Candidate members of the ACP are eligible to participate in the ACP Candidate Mentorship Program, which pairs candidates with experienced child psychoanalysts. The program is intended to supplement candidates' regular education and supervision.
Mentors are ACP child analyst members who are available to discuss a range of topics, including the development of an analytic practice, current trends in child and adolescent psychoanalysis, the ACP and its offerings, and opportunities to build relationships with other candidates and analysts.
The Mentor's role is supportive and collegial, and is not intended to overlap with or interfere with the candidate's formal training. Mentors and candidates are encouraged to meet once or twice per month for a period of one to two years, although the frequency and duration of meetings are determined by the interests, needs, and schedules of both participants.
The program has received consistently positive feedback from candidates, who report appreciating the opportunity to develop collegial relationships and finding the mentorship helpful in their clinical work.
ACP candidate members interested in participating in the Mentorship Program are encouraged to contact Candidate Councilor Jim Grabowski at jg@jamesgrabowski.com to get started.
